Does freezing temperature affect fire detection and sprinklers?

Significantly. Standard wet sprinkler pipework cannot be used in freezer rooms, so dry or antifreeze systems are common, and detection must be chosen for the environment. Aspirating systems such as VESDA are widely used in cold rooms because conventional point detectors can be unreliable in low temperatures and high air movement.

How do you test fire systems without shutting down a cold chain?

We plan around production and cold chain integrity. Testing is staged zone by zone, doors are kept closed wherever possible, and work in freezer areas is scheduled and sequenced so temperature-sensitive stock is never put at risk.

What is the AS 1851 schedule for an industrial warehouse?

It depends on the systems installed. Typically monthly and six-monthly inspections for hydrants, hose reels and extinguishers, monthly through annual routines for detection and sprinklers, and six-monthly discharge testing of emergency and exit lighting under AS 2293.2.
